RR Compatibilty

Q : I put my skin in the Enicar skin dir, setup the skin name in the ini but Enicar won't start/crash/do nothing/act weird with my skin. What happen ?
A : Enicar is compatible with some RR skin, RR have hundred of skin, Enicar is not compatible with all of them, actualy it has only been tested with a few and their is still a lot to do to be 100% compatible, just say what skin you are daily using and i could look at what is the problem and peharps fix it in the next release.

Q : What are the main difference between RR & Enicar.
A : Enicar is young it miss a lot of functionality, And will always miss a lot. The purpose is not to replace RR. But some functionality Could be better or enough for some user.
- RR use winamp & and external video player and as many codecs as your video needed, Enicar use mplayer for video & audio, and doesn't need any codec installed, Enicar will work on a brand new install of windows without any needs of external software/dll or whatever.
- Enicar consider a video as a mp3, if you launch a video and goes on to the gps screen the video doesn't stop to play, it continue, without any visual, but if you go back on your video screen it continue with the video.
- In video mode if you press on next it goes to the next video, yeah i know seems easy but i dream about this function in RR.
- RR is written in VB and Enicar in C++, sorry to say that but it will always be much, much faster.
- Enicar load all the skin in memory at startup. It takes a little more time at startup, but when you are like me and you only goes throw 3 page each morning, you could wait for the loading of this page.
- Enicar use a SkinCache feature that is so fast ! Try it, this totaly blow up the initial loading time.
- Enicar could use a cache of your media list. Very usefull and fast when you have a huge amount of mp3.
- When IGuidance speaks Enicar lower down the volume of your music/video and put it back after.
- Enicar have some special Button to pilot IGuidance, so you don't need an external (another) software like IGKey etc...

INSTALL/SETUP/TROUBLESHOTING

Q: Ok i've downloaded all how do i start.
A: First Extract the RAR on your hardrive, you should have something like this

Now edit EniCar.ini, Report to the FAQ on it.

Q: How do i configure Enicar ?
A: In EniCar directory you could find EniCar.ini, this file contain all the configuration to setup the software.

SKIN_DIR=c:\enicar\skins\ (NEEDED) with this you can setup the directory than contain all you skins.

SKIN_NAME=MC2.0(NEEDED) this is the name of the directory that contain the skin you want to use.

SKINCACHE=1 (OPTIONAL, by default 0-false) To speed up the loading with this option, Enicar could create a file in your skin directory the first time you load your skin. At next startup Enicar will load this file instead of the skin file, this accelerate by at least 10 the time needed to load a skin. If the file is obsolete with this version of enicar, enicar will overwrite this file with a newer version. Don't forget that if you activate this option change to your skin will be taken in consideration unless you destroy the SkinCache.dat file in your skin directory. Skin maker should work this this option disable.

MEDIACACHE=1 (OPTIONAL, by default 0-false) To speed up the loading with this option, Enicar could create a file in your enicar directory that contain all the mp3 located in your mp3 dir & video dir. That help the startup if you have huge amount of files. Of course if you add/ modify some files in your media dir you should delete AUDIOCACHE.DAT and VIDEOCACHE.DAT in your enicar directory.

MUSIC_DIR=C:\mp3 (NEEDED) the path were your mp3 are stored. Enicar must have access in write to this directory to write the current playlist (hope to find a solution in the futur)

VIDEO_DIR=C:\video (NEEDED) the path were your video are stored. Enicar must have access in write to this directory to write the current playlist (hope to find a solution in the futur)

VIDEO_IDLE_FULLSCREEN=5.0 (NEEDED) If a video is on screen, and no mouse action happen until this amount of second the video will goes fullscreen. To quit this mode, just move the mouse/touch the screen.

VIDEO_CAN_IDLE=1 (NEEDED) Does the video could go full screen when doing nothing.

GPS_SOFTWARE_ID=1 (OPTIONAL) No action for the instant

GPS_SOFTWARE_PATH=C:\Program Files\iNav\iGuidance\iGuidanceUMPC.exe (OPTIONAL) this is the full path and name of your iguidance 3.xx gps software (iguidance is the only gps actualy supported). if you have no iguidance remove this or Enicar could hang at startup

GPS_PORT=-1 (OPTIONAL) Enicar could share you gps receiver with iguidance with the use of the xport software. The number is of course the serial port number for Enicar.

DISABLEVIDEOSPEED=-1 (OPTIONAL) For security reason you could want to disable the display (but not the playing) of the video while your car is moving. To do that you must have a gps hardware and setup the GPS_PORT. This option set the speed when Enicar would disable the video display. Don't set it to 0 as gps always "move" a little even if you are not moving, prefer a value like 5. You must explore this with the sensitivity of your gps receiver.

Q: The Mute of music is not active when IG "speaks"
A: First you need to put IG on a NTFS hard drive, second check in your registry if NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate is not activate (DWord value =1, must be 0) Reboot after change.
